3rd day

Another very busy day today and we have such wonderful kids, they are just troopers and did not even complain when we had to wait for dinner, instead they sang and cheered in line! We began our day at a very rainy Arlington Cemetery. We saw the Kennedy's graves, the Tomb of the unknowns, and the changing of the guard. From there we made a quick stop at the Marine Corp Memorial and then tried the National Archives, but the line was hours long. We went to lunch in the old Post Office building and did some shopping and then we were off to the Capital with a stop by the White House for photos somewhere in there! After the Capital building we had our choice of Smithsonian Museums and most visited Nature and Science, including the butterflies, some walked over to the Jefferson Memorial and most ended the day's touring at the History Museum. We drove over to the Hard Rock Cafe where we had a bit of a wait, but a great time once we got inside! I will post some pictures and then I hope to get some sleep!

Second Day - Busy!

Well, once again, we are all safe and sound back in the hotel! The kids are much quieter tonight than last night, I think they are tired. We were at breakfast at 6:30 and on the bus by 7:15, right on time. We headed out for Mt. Vernon and were first in line! Evidently that is quite a big deal, the tour leaders were all vying with each other about the order each arrived! Mt. Vernon had beautiful views of the Potomac, and you could certainly tell why Washington was so fond of it. We left Mt. Vernon, had lunch and headed for the Washington Memorial where we got to go right to the top and look around. It was a bit cloudy, but we could see the sites near us. I think I am still going to feel the swaying when I lay down tonight! From there we walked to the Holocaust Museum which was very informative, but also very sobering. Our next stop was the Spy Museum for dinner and a tour of spy history. Very fun, we assumed a "legend" and were quizzed on it as we went through the museum. The students seemed to like crawling through the air ducts a lot, it was fun, I did it too!We ended the day with more Memorials, Vietnam, Lincoln and Korean. It had begun to rain by this time and was light most of the way, but began to get worse at our last stop, so we returned to the hotel. The kids ran around the hall, visited the vending machines and Profe sang for everyone in the hall. Too bad Isaiah wouldn't dance for us! Room checks were at 10:00 and the hall is very quiet now at 10:51 local time!

I will post some pictures here from yesterday as well, I can't post all the pictures I have taken (over 400) but I will try to choose some good ones and will get everyone copies of what I have taken. Until tomorrow....

First day in DC

I took plenty of pictures of the kids today, unfortunately I don't have my cord to download them tonight. I will do so tomorrow night and also send some from my phone tomorrow if possible. We are all safe, have had a busy but thankfully emergency free day. Kids are all safe and sound in their rooms and the security guard is outside on duty. Sleep well!
